Our Story
Hog Molly Brewing Co. is owned and operated by Lou and Martha Krempel. Lou has always enjoyed beer, but in the past 15 years has grown to have a passion for craft beers. He and his wife, Martha, have a son who played Division 1 college football from 2009 through 2014. During that time, Lou and Martha traveled to as many of those games as they possibly could. While in various cities around the country, they made a point of eating at local breweries and pubs. Quickly realizing there was an entire world of craft beer out there, they found a passion in trying them all.
Lou has a passion for good quality, full-bodied, classic ales. He has had a lot of people try his beer over the years. Many of these people commented, “why aren’t you selling this?” or “I would buy this!” With that being said so many times, he finally decided to take the plunge. Lou got the opportunity to purchase some used equipment in late 2018 and did so. With the help of their 3 children and 2 of their spouses, as well as many local friends, he and Martha spent most of 2019 turning an empty metal building into the brewery and taproom they have today.
When choosing a name for the brewery, they kicked around many names until the idea of Hog Molly finally arose. Hog Molly is a nick-name, among football buffs, for an offensive lineman. Since Lou and their son both played on the line, it seemed perfect.
